Who is eligible to claim benefits through UWIN?

Any unorganized worker as defined under the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act (UWSSA), 2008 is eligible to claim benefit to schemes subject to eligibility criteria specified in the scheme. Unorganized worker include home-based worker, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the enterprises in unorganized sector (enterprises engaged in production and sale of good or providing services where less than 10 workers are employed). A worker in the organized sector who is not covered by any of the following Acts is also classified as unorganized worker:
a. The Workmen’s Compensation Act 1923
b. The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947
c. The Employees State Insurance Act, 1948
d. The EPF and Miscellaneous provisions Act, 1952
e. The Maternity Benefits Act, 1961
f. The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
